This sewing video shows a technique for creating gathers with mid- to heavyweight fabrics. It’s a handy alternative to our gathering with rows of thread tutorial. You can use yarn, floss, or twine – whatever you have available.
This method is recommended for heavier fabrics where stitches often break if the basting method is used. Plus it’s easy AND a great thread-saver.
Top tip: Have your sewing machine book handy for adjusting the stitch length and width.
