Designed in Germany, Burda offers a varied and sophisticated range of patterns. All are multi-sized with all sizes in the pattern envelope. The range is updated twice a year.
The history of Burda printed Sewing Patterns
In 1949 when Aenne Burda took over her husband’s publishing company and pushed to provide women with an innovative magazine featuring sewing patterns for garments inspired by top designers. By 1974, the magazine “Burda Moden” was already being sold in 125 countries and by 1989 copies sold worldwide had exceeded 4 million.
Following the success of the magazine Burda created a paper pattern range sold in envelopes with instructions sheets in the same pattern format as other popular brands. They are multi-sized with all sizes in the pattern envelope and most importantly, seam allowances included. This is the primary difference to the magazine patterns which feature pattern sheets covered in overlapping coloured lines indicating the pattern pieces for different designs and don’t include seam allowance.
With designs for Women, Men, Children, Craft and Home décor the range is extensive, on trend and features attractive lifestyle photography.
