Pattern Favourites: Coat Patterns

Have you ventured into coat making yet? This time of year you probably use one every day, so what better way to leave the house then in a coat that is your favourite colour, has the perfect fit, and is made by you! It is a slightly more challenging project, but it’s oh so satisfying when you’re finished.

Because now is the time to start making your cosy coat, we thought we would round up some of our favourite coat patterns. From a simple poncho style coat to a more complicated trench coat and everything in between.

Pattern: Simplicity 8797.

Have you been eyeing up those super cosy teddy coats on the high street? This is the perfect pattern to recreate that style. It’s oversized so it’s easy to fit, and with only one button closure, there’s not much to worry about! The pattern includes 4 different lengths.

Vogue Patterns V8884 Misses' Coat and Belt

Pattern: Vogue 8884.

We love this new take on the classic trench coat. This pattern has a lot of interesting details which makes it the perfect project for an intermediate seamstress. With different lengths and topstitching options, this coat is a must have in your wardrobe!

Butterick Sewing Pattern B6603 Misses' Cape

Pattern: Butterick 6603.

This is a hybrid between a coat and a cape and we love it! This look is incredibly stylish and will look amazing over any outfit. It is lined and semi-fitted with front and back darts. It closes with a front button closure and you can choose to add a collar and ruffles.
