Simplicity Sewing Pattern 8742 Women's Cardigan

Pattern: Simplicity 8742 .
A great way to ease yourself into coat making is to start with a coatigan. It’s a mix between a cardigan and a coat and it’s usually an easy make. One of our favourites is the Simplicity 8742 coatigan. The patch pockets are nice and big!

Another popular design from our Know Me collection, this is a very beginner friendly wrap coat for a polished finish with belt loops and notched collar.

Thinking of using faux fur, or teddy bear fabric? This jacket would be perfect! The pattern is for a fitted, lined coats with length variations and have notched collar and snap closures.

Pattern: New Look 6545.
For those of you that have never sewn sleeves before, raglan sleeves are a little bit different than normal sleeves and are easier to sew than set in sleeves. The New Look 6545 bomber jacket might be a good start for you with zip closure and raglan sleeves.

Pattern: Simplicity 8797.
With its classic lapels and easy fit, this cozy lined coat has the look of a perfectly oversized coat. The pattern includes four different lengths and features a one button closure.

Pattern: McCall’s 8029.
A cape is another garment that is great to get started with when you want to start with coat making. This unlined wrap cape with belt has a shawl collar or a self lined hood. It will be easy and quick to sew as all edges are unfinished and edgestitched.
