From Marilyn Monroe’s iconic halter dress to this years on-trend summer dresses, the halter neckline never seems to go out of style! You recognise a halter dress by the strap that runs from the front of the garment around to the back of the neck, with most of the back uncovered. We have gathered some of our favourite halter dress patterns for you today, so you can start and dream up your own version.

Pattern: Simplicity 9097.
Designed by Mimi G, Simplicity 9097 is an incredibly stylish dress that features a collar, buttons down the front, big pockets, and ties around the waist.

Pattern: Butterick 6682.
Get very close to re-creating Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress with Butterick 6682. The dress is unlined, with a close-fitting halter bodice, a hook and eye closure, and a horsehair-lined hem.

Pattern: Vogue 9259.
Vogue 9259 not only includes this fabulous maxi dress, it also includes a romper and a jumpsuit. The criss cross halter is our favourite feature, and it ties at the back of the neck.

Pattern: New Look 6372.
New Look 6372 is not your typical halter neck dress as it sewn with a chain and cute ties at the back. It’s very loose fitting, but the lower back is stitched with elastic so the dress hugs your body from the back. Comfy and chic!
