Dress Pattern Edit: Knit Dresses

Today we wanted to share some dresses that are designed for knit fabrics. Not only are knit fabrics easy to sew with (easy fitting and no need to finish seams) they are perfect for keeping you warm, comfortable, and cosy. It’s pretty cold for many of us right now, and dressing warmly is getting to be a priority!

Whether you’re sewing for Autumn, Winter or a random chilly windy day, have a look at some of our favourite patterns and hopefully you’ll find something toasty! And if you need more inspiration, take a look at our HUGE range of knit dresses for all occasions, with designs in paper and PDF formats, and featuring plus size options, vintage reissues and indie designer collaborations.

Pattern: Simplicity 9740 / 9741.

These two great Simplicity dresses are part of our indie designer collab with Mimi G. They are knit dresses in two lengths with dropped shoulders, short sleeves with top stitching at sleeve hem. View B has back hem vent. We’re able to offer inclusive sizing by splitting the pattern packs, covering sizes 4 – 38 across the two design numbers.

Pattern: McCall’s 8085.

Stylish, and bang on trend, McCall’s 8085 is a loose-fitting dress with a gathered skirt. Add the hem ruffle option for even more gathered gorgeousness, and choose from three different sleeve options.

Pattern: Simplicity 8790.

This Sew House Seven for Simplicity design is simple yet versatile. Make a top or a dress with features such as dropped shoulders, raglan sleeves, a waist tie, and pockets.
