Dress Pattern Edit: Long Sleeve Dresses

There’s no getting around it, there is no better time than to sew dresses… with sleeves! The wonderful thing about sleeves is there are so many options to choose from – tailored sleeves, puff sleeves, cuffed sleeves, bell sleeves, there are endless options. And whether you’re looking for a long sleeve winter dress, statement sleeves or prefer to keep your arms covered, we have a pattern for you.

We’ve collated 10 of our favourite dresses with sleeves to inspire your next sewing project.

PATTERN: MCCALL’S 8342

This is a classic cut of a shirt dress with button-through bodice with a collar and stand.  The pattern comes with three sleeve options including a long sleeve that finishes with a button cuff.  This skirt dress has a gentle soft touch of a gathered skirt that finishes below the knee.

PATTERN: VOGUE 1908

One of our best selling designs! This vintage-inspired dress is close fitting through bust. The front opening has a button and bias loop closure. It includes a collar, front and back yoke with gathers and wrap-style skirt with waist ties. Set-in sleeves have gathered shoulders and there is a stitched hem. Choose from sleeve and length variations.

Both views in this pattern are stunners. They have a simple bodice with bust darts and a gathered skirt, but they you can choose between a Peter-pan collar and tapered full-length sleeve or for the shirring lovers a shirred stand collar and full sleeve with a shirred cuff!

PATTERN: VOGUE 9197

This is the perfect dress to let the fabric be the star! The dress has a close-fitted bodice, with a gathered skirt and centre-back zippers.  The dress has both short and fitted long-sleeve options.  With minimal design lines in the dress, it avoids breaking up prints on the fabric.

PATTERN: SIMPLICITY 9701

There are sleeve and skirt variations to play with. Technically this view has 3/4 sleeves ending in bands with split detail but are long enough to make our short list.
