Pattern Favourites: Short Jacket Sewing Patterns

The kind of jacket that is not too warm, not too cold, and goes with most of your outfits. A wardrobe staple that you could wear from the beginning of spring all the way through to autumn. Make one from tweed, leatherette, cotton canvas, denim, linen and more fabrics – we have a wide range of jacket sewing patterns from classic denim jackets to blazer patterns!

Pattern: Simplicity 8845.
Simplicity 8845 is the ultimate denim jacket sewing pattern! This unisex jacket pattern is sized for Misses, Men’s and Teens’ and features pockets and metal button closures. Need extra support? Pattern: New Look 6545.
The bomber jacket is a classic short style, but also very much on trend the past year. Make it ribbing and with or without contrasting raglan sleeves. Great for brocade, wool or denim fabrics. We also recommend sewing scuba for a water resistant version (not to be confused with waterproof neoprene!)

Pattern: Butterick 6862.

Pattern: Vogue 1610.
Fall in love with V1610. This design is loosely inspired by the Kimono jackets of Japan from designer Sandra Betzina. There are two lengths included with handy side seam pockets and belts in two widths!

Pattern: Vogue 7975.
Little French jackets made in the classic Chanel Tweed jacket style never go out of fashion. Vogue 7975 is the sewing pattern to use for this timeless cardigan jacket style. It is jam packed with variations for trim, pockets, fasteners and length options. It’s the MUST HAVE pattern to recreate this style. Pattern: Burda Style 5941.
This lovely jacket includes two different lengths. There’s two sporty jackets and a classic coat – all feature a collar and large patch pockets with flaps. The pockets and front bands are fastened with snaps. And depending on the fabric this jacket can be made super casual, waterproof, cosy or super chic. What would you go for? Given this is a quilted jacket sewing pattern you could buy some pre-quilted fabric and whip up something very on trend!

Pattern: Simplicity SP105.
One of our PDF patterns, SP105 jacket has ruffle hem details on the sleeves. It’s lined and fitted with princess seams plus has separate pattern pieces for B,C,D And DD cup sizes. Perfect for creating a chic jacket that fits your style.

Pattern: Know Me 2001.
Part of our Know Me brand by Mimi G – Know Me designs are created by members of the sewing community! One of the bestsellers is this oversized lined coat with belt, sleeve bands, wide lapel notched collar and side seam pockets. I bet you could shorten this into a peacoat jacket length!
