New McCall’s sewing pattern

Today on the blog we are going to talk through the latest sewing pattern releases from McCall’s Patterns. There are some great options to create outfits for the coming season. Here are some of our favourites from getting dressed up to go to a party to tops with interesting design details.

Party Dresses

First up we have three new dress patterns to showcase, which would all look stunning at a party over the holiday season. Lets take a closer look at these new additions.

This is such a striking dress and would make the ultimate entrance at a party. It has a close fitting lined bodice with boning. There are plenty of options including sheer yoke, sleeves, collar, flounces and ruffles! Make this dress using a crepe or satin fabric.

An easy to fit pullover dress with an amazing gather up one side and this can be achieved with either elastic or ribbon. There are five variations with this dress including different sleeve lengths, a floor length side slit or asymmetric hem. This dress looks great in a stretch velvet but you can also make it from a jersey or rayon spandex.

If you are looking for a more simple and classic dress then this is the one for you. It has four different sleeve variations, all with volume giving this dress a party feel. The dress is lined and fitted and it has separate pattern pieces for different cup sizes. Make using satin, taffeta or cotton blend fabrics.

Skirts

We also have three new skirt patterns as part of this collection, which have really different styles. Lets take a closer look at these new additions.

McCalls 7843

This skirt is great for beginners as it’s easy to fit with an elasticated waist. The skirt also comes in two length variations for an on the trend below the knee look or mini version. Suitable for two-way stretch knit fabrics. Here the model is wearing the longer version in a leopard print, which is a print all over the high street this year. Check out our post from earlier in the month for more ideas on this.

Statement sleeve tops

The statement sleeve looks like it is here to stay for a bit longer and we have three patterns to show you how to recreate this high street look.

McCalls 7837

This top is great for colder weather as it has long sleeves and fitted cuffs. It has a dropped shoulder for easier fitting and with four variations including collars, ruffles and pleated hem options you can make so many different versions with just one pattern. Suitable for cotton fabrics.

McCalls 7842

This top is a great challenge for an intermediate maker. It is semi-fitted with all the classic shirt details. It also has a novel back yoke hem design. Made from cotton fabrics and pair with jeans or a pencil skirt.
