Maker’s Showcase: April – May

We haven’t been able to share your amazing creations in the past few weeks to make space for Great British Sewing Bee updates. But today we thought we would come back with another Maker Showcase, to share some of our favourites and most inspirational makers from April & May.

Hopefully you’ll be inspired too, and you’ll sew something for yourself! When you do, please don’t forget to share it with us on social media using the hashtags #simplicitybyme or #mccallsbyme. We love nothing more than following your sewing adventures!

We want to start with this fabulous make from @ladyfoleysews. These are vintage Vogue patterns – V2006 for the dress, and V1864 for the bow. We love the fabric choice too, uber chic!

@seamstress.seamless made this fabulous version of the McCalls M7599. It’s the perfect 1950’s inspired spring / summer dress to swoosh around in!

@thecornyrainbow has made the MOST beautiful version of the Vogue 9319. We are obsessed with the fabric she’s used and the flowers in her hair are the perfect accessory!

We’re absolutely loving this beautiful dress from @burieddiamond who’s been sewing up a vintage Simplicity 5916 from the year she was born – 1983!

If summer were a dress then this would be it! @thesurlysailor has made the Simplicity 8591 using the most wonderful vintage fabric and added some pretty amazing contrast piping too.

Some serious sewing inspiration from @whatabimakes, who has made the Simplicity 8545. Abi wore this dress to the dressmakers ball last year and we cannot think of a more perfect outfit to wear to a ball!

The very clever @modernjunecleaver took Butterick 6413 and added a big gathered skirt to it. She totally nailed it! This dress is picture perfect!

This dream of a dress is made by @sew.very.lovely. She’s used the Simplicity 8448 to create this beautiful mellow yellow number and it turned out perfectly!

It’s about the sleeves this year! This amazing blouse is made by @maellemakings in a fabulous silk organza. She’s used the McCalls 7838 and we could not love it more.

How fantastic is this coat made @sewcrabbybee using New Look 6514? The big dragonfly print is brilliant and with no fastenings or other fiddly techniques you can have this whipped up in no time!

This fabric and pattern are a match made in heaven! @didyoumakethat stitched up the McCalls 7542 top with the cutest ruffle sleeves. We would happily wear this outfit all summer long.
