As Valentine’s Day approaches, we have a selection of Simplicity sewing patterns and craft accessories to help you give your heart to a loved one this February 14th.
Our Hearts iron-on applique from Wrights is one of the easiest and the most fun ways to add an instant heart to any creation, just by ironing it directly on to the garment or item.
It’s particularly suitable for families, with a youthful overall style to it, so if you’re getting the kids involved when choosing Valentine’s Day gifts, this is a great way to do just that.
For a slightly more grown-up effect, we have a pink Breast Cancer Heart with Studs – and 10% of all sales of this item go towards Breast Cancer Care, making it an especially thoughtful option.
Again you can just iron it on to any garment, or sew or stick it into place, whatever works best for the fabric you’re working with.
Our Curved Heart Template is a useful addition to your craft templates for any romantic creations, not just for Valentine’s Day but all year round.
It’s a single plastic template with curved heart shapes in five different sizes, and comes from the fantastic EZ Quilting Templates range.
For a more symmetrical ‘classic’ heart shape, also from EZ Quilting, you’ll want our Easy Heart Cut Tool, which cleverly gives you a stencil for half of a heart shape, again in five different sizes.
That’s because for a full heart, you’ll want to fold your fabric in half and cut a fully symmetrical shape out of it – which is much easier to do by folding and cutting both halves at once, rather than trying to cut around a full single-layer heart shape.
Finally if you’re surprising a loved one with a romantic home-cooked meal, Simplicity sewing pattern 8232 is a sweet vintage pattern inspired by the 1940s era, and will let you make your own chef’s apron complete with heart-shaped bodice section – pretty and practical both at once.
