There’s been an eye-watering level of beauty on show in the last few days at Paris Fashion Week – stunning models and awe inspiring looks by the major fashion houses. Here are just some of our hero pieces that have headed down the runway – and ideas on making your own versions of these sensational looks.
Anthony Vaccarello presented his debut collection for Saint Laurent. It was good to see the collection stayed true to the house’s roots – with an update on the classic tuxedo. Our Burda Style is a subtle take on this look – something well worth taking the time to tailor as it will take you from a day in the office to a night out!
Asymmetry and one shouldered designs featured heavily. We love the shimmery fabric of this special dress. Our very own Mimi G designs will give you a wearable take on this look. View the sewing tutorial here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeA52W2SzOk
We love a good trench coat, so it was a relief to see that Balenciaga had addressed our eternal need for this wardrobe staple. Our Mimi G pattern may even have the edge here, we think (maybe we’re biased!) with its detachable cape. Pure glamour in one pattern!
Ruffles and frippery played a role at John Galliano – we’ve chosen to interpret this look as girly and playful. You can’t get girlier or more playful than this lovely Burda Young pattern.
Happy stitching – and if you decide to make your take on the styles from Paris Fashion Week, we’d love to see them. Why not post them on Twitter, and tag us in @SewSimplicity?
