A couple of weeks ago we showcased some of our favourite 70’s looks, inspired by the flares and frills seen on the catwalks for AW17. This week our focus is on suits, modelled by everyone from Calvin Klein to Alexander McQueen this season. The trend is all about slim lines and elegant shapes – not a shoulder pad in sight!
According to Vogue, one of the major mistakes made when it comes to suits is a poor fit – not a problem for us stitchers with the patterns below. Whether it’s a skirt suit, trouser suit or a vintage suit, your look is sure to impress.
The classic trouser suit
You can’t go wrong with Burda’s 7134 pattern. Grab some good quality fabric and get the perfect fit, ideal for a work meeting or interview. You could even get creative with colour, for an alternative evening look!
The skirt suit
A more feminine take on the trouser suit, Burda’s 6582 is the best pattern to get creative with. Choose between a cropped or peplum jacket, a midi or knee length skirt – and we haven’t even started on the fabric and colour options!
The 70’s twist
Enter Simplicity 8058, merging the 70’s and suits styles. The ultimate pieces if you want to be bang on trend this season – we recommend using scuba or double-knit fabric to get achieve the desired look!
The vintage look
Now for something completely different – Simplicity 8242. Inspired by 1940s fashion, this is a flattering shape which is also available in plus size.
